Standard Podiatry Treatment

Our expert podiatry staff will carry out a full assessment and treatment. This starts with a foot health check, a vascular check and a full treatment. This includes hard skin & corn removal, nails are cut, shaped and any thick nails are thinned, and any ingrown nails are removed. Cracked heels are gently debrided. We treat all foot conditions such as chilblains, hyperidrosis (sweaty feet), bromhydrosis (smelly feet), foot ulceration etc. The treatment finishes with a circulation boosting foot massage using our herbal foot creams.

Acupuncture has many uses in podiatry, it can be used to treat many painful foot conditions such Morton’s neuroma or arthritis, or it can be used to treat chronic or acute foot and lower leg injuries. It is also very effective in treating neurological foot conditions, such as burning in the feet.

Using the latest equipment- the Doppler Ability, we calculate your Ankle Brachial Pressure Index, this is the measurement used to evaluate blood flow to the feet. We also evaluate skin condition and measure capillary fill reflex. We explain the results and give you a report and forward a copy of this report to your GP. For those patients who have reduced circulation, carrying out this test annually is recommended as it builds up a picture of your circulation over time and can therefore identify issues at an earlier stage than would otherwise be the case, this facilitates onward vascular referrals where appropriate.

Using a neurothesiometer we measure vibration response within the nerves of the feet. Using a mono filament we measure pressure response, using a neurotip we measure sharp/blunt perception and finally using a thermal device we measure temperature perception. All results are explained and a report is provided for you with a copy going to your GP. Identifying problems with nerve conduction in the feet is very important. A loss of sensation leads to serious foot health issues. Your podiatrist can help prevent foot health complications caused by neuropathy.

This should be carried out annually on all diabetic patients, it will prevent foot complications in the future. It comprises of a full vascular and neurological assessment (See details listed above). It includes a detailed foot assessment and discussion with the patient around their foot health needs written advice is given on good foot care and how best to avoid foot complications.

Biomechanical Evaluation

This is a full evaluation of walking. It includes a functional evaluation of shoulders, spine, hips, knees, ankles, sub talar joint, Mid tarsal joint, 1st ray function, relaxed and neutral calcaneal stance, dynamic gait evaluation and footwear wear pattern evaluation. Please bring 3 pairs or well-worn shoes and wear loose fitting clothes.

Fungal Nail Treatments
30 minutes - £55
This is a course of 6 x 30 minute treatments which are highly successful in eradicating fungal infection from nails. The success rate is approximately 90%. The treatment is safe and there is no down time. It is important to have an initial podiatry appointment to first confirm your nails are suitable for laser treatment and to prepare them for laser, which frequently involves thinning of the nails (a totally painless procedure). We will explain the laser treatment fully at your initial appointment.
